This series follows five extraordinary women, modern-day heirs to the goddess Aphrodite, whose lives echo ancient myths as they struggle, achieve, and ultimately ask: can love truly triumph over all?

Greetings from ‘The Daughters of Aphrodite.’ We are excited to reveal the enchantment of the female protagonists in our tale and their strength to navigate life’s challenges through love. As modern descendants of Aphrodite, their existence mirrors the heritage of the legendary Goddess, illustrating how love, in all its variations, can triumph over any adversity or circumstance.

Synopsis

We embark on a journey of five women who are modern-day embodiments of the legacy of Phrodite the Godess of Love. They grew up within a region that has a history riven by conflict  and their lives now are animated by a love- love for justice, for family, for truth, for identity — but each must also confront the shadows and the struggles that come with it. Through their deeply personal stories, we see how ancient archetypes still pulse in the hearts of real women today.

IN the centre of our story is Cyprus, known as the island of love, where Aphrodite is said to have risen from the sea — but as the ancients understood, love was never simple. Aphrodite’s children represented the full spectrum of human emotion: Anteros love that restores balance, Eros the God of passion, Phobos and Deimos Gods of fear and dread, Pothos God of longing, and Harmonia the Godess of harmony. Love, in this mythology, is not just sweetness and light — it is fire, chaos, yearning, fear, and peace.

This series doesn’t retell myths — it shows how myth lives on, in flesh and blood, in ambition and sacrifice. It asks not only if love can conquer all, but how love, in all its forms, compels us to become extraordinary.

A cultural crusader hunts stolen icons looted during war. Her pursuit echoes Anteros, the child of Aphrodite who restores balance when love is violated. This episode establishes the central theme: love fights back.

Phobos & Deimos / Gods Of Fear & Dread

 PHOBOS & DEIMOS — Love in the Face of Fear
Architect and author builds and writes under military occupation. Her humor and defiance mirror Aphrodite’s twin sons—fear personified. She shows that even where fear is constant, love chooses to create.

Eros and Himeros - Gods of desire and longing

EROS & HIMEROS — Love as Desire, Story, Longing
A women that uses literature to bridge identities and cultures. Her work embodies existential desire: the longing to belong and the need to connect. Through her stories, she channels the generative, connective force of Eros and the yearning pull of Himeros.

Harmonia / The Goddess Of Harmony

HARMONIA — Love That Rebuilds After Ruin
An architect and humanitarian rebuilds the futures of Syrian refugee youth. Her work mirrors Harmonia: the one who reconciles opposites and creates balance after chaos. She shows love as reconstruction—of identity, community, possibility.

Pothos / The God Of Yearning

POTHOS — Love as Longing for What Is Missing
Greek archaeologist Despina Koutsoumba embodies the longing of a nation for the return of the Parthenon Marbles. As Pothos personifies the ache for what is absent, Despina stands for cultural wholeness—an identity divided and yearning to be reunited. This final episode closes the mythic cycle: love persists until the world becomes whole again.

Cyprus

The Fractured Throne of Love

Cyprus — the birthplace of Aphrodite — stands as a symbol of love, desire, and passion. But with love comes conflict. With beauty, envy. With passion, the sting of betrayal. Has the island been blessed by the crown of love, or cursed by it? Perhaps its allure is simply too great to be shared, inviting greed, jealousy, and the lust for power that shattered its unity.

Since 1974, Cyprus has been divided — a scar left by a Turkish led military invasion, a consequence of a Greek-led junta. The island, once whole, now lives in fragments.

And what of the daughters of this land — the daughters of Aphrodite? Raised among ruins of unity, they have inherited not just beauty and grace, but resilience forged in separation. Their souls hardened by loss, their wills strengthened by division, they carry within them the untold stories of an island that still longs to heal.

Nigel Levy

Nigel Levy is an Emmy and RTS award-nominated writer, director, and producer known for acclaimed documentaries and docu-dramas for major U.K. and international broadcasters. As Series Editor of the first season of Netflix’s Formula One: Drive to Survive, he helped shape one of the platform’s most successful unscripted series, leading to its renewal for a second season. He also worked on the acclaimed Netflix football documentary Sunderland ’Til I Die. Nigel is recognized for combining strong technical and narrative expertise with cinematic visuals and emotional, character-driven storytelling.

Nedi is a talented actress and theatre producer/director. She has a natural ability to be creative in how a story is told, collected and showcased which will be a great asset to have in the production. Having produced the 'Women Walk Home' theatrical production which toured Europe Nedi is perfectly placed to share and creatvely navigate assets in line with the narrative. Having stared in the most high budget Greek film of all time Smirni Mou Nedi is acustomed to be on set both in front and behind the camera.

Halime Ozdemir Larusso

Halime is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning arts producer and cultural strategist known for creating impactful cultural projects that connect communities across borders. Born in Famagusta and raised in London, she has spent more than two decades collaborating with leading institutions including the Serpentine Galleries, British Museum, Royal Academy of Arts, and the Istanbul Biennial. Her recent work includes producing major projects such as Yinka Shonibare CBE: Suspended States, Steve McQueen: Grenfell, Refik Anadol: Echoes of the Earth, and the acclaimed short film Brawler, featured at the BFI London Film Festival and other international festivals.
